Dr. Kavitha Sankavaram, is a Faculty Specialist and currently is responsible for State Outreach and Program Evaluation of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Maryland, College Park. Her responsibilities include working collaboratively with the professional and paraprofessional staff that provide nutrition education in nine Maryland Counties, program coordination of special initiatives of Maryland EFNEP and reporting.
She is passionate about working with low-income people, reducing domestic food-insecurity and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Her research interests are focused on finding sustainable solutions to the nutrition and lifestyle factors that drive the double burden of food insecurity and obesity.
