This presentation will engage participants and anchor them to the topic as they are challenged to put themselves into their “middle school mindset”. Challenges and considerations specific to engaging with the middle school audience to teach EFNEP programs will be discussed, including the use of interactive tools. NH EFNEP best practices to successfully address and overcome potential challenges and relate to this unique audience will also be reflected on. Participants will learn various approaches to working with and relating to middle schoolers effectively. Information about the choice to implement the evidence based EatFit curriculum in NH will be shared, as well as how the use of this curriculum has positively affected NH EFNEP impacts. Impacts include facilitating a large increase in numbers of 6-8th grade participants, improvements in their food and physical activity behaviors, and enthusiastic support from community partners for the program.
